The paper starts from the idea that one of the best solutions that different types of organizations can adopt in order to survive and be successful in the new society dominated by knowledge, complexity and many changes is to implement the knowledge management process. In this context, on the basis of the results of a prcatical research undertaken in some Romanian academic libraries which aimed at finding out if there is a favourable climate for an effective knowledge management, there are analysed the aspects that characterize the organizational culture in these structures and one of its most important elements, communication.
